Things in my life currently
Hi guys,
I've been going through many things recently, and I lowkey want to share with yall about them.
So firstly, I've just done the final exams of this school term. Ah, I still remember when I was writing the blog entry about the new school year.
«So you're basically free now?» you may ask. Well, I wish I was, yeah, I wish I was. I am still taking 3 more EXTREMELY IMPORTANT exams in June.
In case you wonder what could that 3 exams possibly be, they decide which upper secondary school will I attend in the future.
So basically like this: There are many public upper secondary schools (which I will refer as «high schools» here) in HCMC alone. Each one requires a pass mark so that you can enter the school you desire.
So where do you get the mark? Yup, it's actually the sum of the marks from the 3 exams you take.
You can decide to enter 3 schools within your province. They are called «Nguyện vọng»s (literally «aspiration» or «wish»; since I can't find a perfect English equivalent so I will use the word «Nguyện vọng» here). Each student has 3 «Nguyện vọng»s (though I heard that some can somehow have more). The first «Nguyện vọng» is the one that you want to attend the most and must have the highest pass mark, whilst the second and third ones serve as «backup schools» and they have lower pass marks.
For example, there are three schools which are your «Nguyện vọng»s, A, B and C. A requires the pass mark of 20, while B requires 17 and C requires 15. When you get the total mark of 20 or greater, you can get into A school. If it is lower than 20 but still greater than 17, you enter B school. Same with C school. In case you, however, can't get into any of them, then you're cooked.
And I haven't mentioned what the 3 exams are about exactly, have I? They are Maths, Literature (Vietnamese) and English exams. Being the major subjects at school, they will be VERY tough for everyone...
With all of that being said,... uh.. I intended to say something like «I don't fear them», but when I actually think about that, that sounds impossible. Like for real, they are difficult exams, and any mistake can be fatal.
So, do yall think I can make it?
